GIRLS SOCCER The many “firsts” in this year of Blue Valley Southwest High athletics continue with the girls soccer team becoming the first Timberwolves’ program to win its opening games.

The Timberwolves have started the season 2-0 after blowout wins over Topeka West and Basehor-Linwood.

“We are starting with a really good foundation with athletic kids with a good soccer background,” coach Jason Pendleton said explaining the early 18-0 combined victories. “The kids who we were fortunate to get in our program from the beginning have a high skill set… I don’t think it’s anything I’ve done. We just have good soccer players.”

Before Friday night’s home match against Kansas City Christian, freshmen Nikki Lynch and Amanda Creason led the team with four goals apiece.
